"The Vampire Diaries" Spin-Off Taps Leah Pipes For Lead Human Role

Yes, you got it right. On February 11, 2013, it was announced that Leah Pipes was cast on TV series "The Originals" as the human Camille.

It was announced that a back-door pilot focused on the Originals, starring Joseph Morgan as Klaus will air sometime in April for a potential series pick-up for the 2013-2014 season.
"The Originals" centers on the Original family of vampires as Klaus returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans, a town he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). Elijah (Daniel Gillies) is intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption and must side with Marcel’s enemies in order to keep Klaus in line.
Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley), Daniella Pineda (Sophie) and Danielle Campbell (Davina) have all been previously announced as cast members for the spin-off. Julie Plec will write the script and serve as showrunner if the pilot goes to series.

The character of Camille is described as “a bartender who is fascinated by the question of whether people can be born bad. After a tragic event in her family, Cami became a psychology student in order to study human behavior in the hopes of proving that people can’t just be ‘evil.’ Her fixation on the subject might lead to a bond with Klaus."
